37406 shunting Past-Time Tours' Cambrian Coast Flyer special at Pwllheli 16 July 2005. The red brick building is the Town Hall which houses the public library & cinema plus Yr Oriel Penlan (Gallery). The spire of the Town Council chambers is on the right. Shot taken with a long lens from the goods crossing.
Ian Riley's BR Standard Class 4MT 'Pocket Rocket', 2-6-0, No.76079 stands at Porthmadog station at 15:22 on 24-08-2005 with the Arriva Trains Special waiting to form the 15:50 1Z53 to Machynlleth. A rarity on this line in steam days, the class only appearing during the last 2 years of steam operation, ending in 1968. Moel-Y-Gest is in the background. The car park behind the engine used to form the sizeable goods yard, in use for pick up goods until the temporary closure of Barmouth Bridge in 1980.
Also on 24-08-2005 at 13:02, 76079 stabled with its stock in the engineering siding at Porthmadog. A small permanent way depot occupies this site, serving the Northern section of the Cambrian's maintenance needs. More shots of this working to follow soon.
Trevor Roberts sends this shot of 76079 standing at Barmouth on 21-08-05 before forming the 1Z53, 15:45 working to Machynlleth.
